This is my review of the Lewis N Clark Lint Roller. Any bachelor who aims to dress nicely always should have lint-free clothes. For some reason I've always had problems with lint collecting on my pants. Black pants are especially problematic, as the lint shows more on them for some reason (for me at least) and makes the pants look old and dirty. Breitling is a Switzerland-based company that designs some amazing, high-end watches. They cater especially to pilots and navigators. This Breitling Chronomat Evolution watch is a true work of art. Its bracelet is made from 18kt rose gold and stainless steel, and the watch is water resistant up to 1000 feet (300 meters). Its got a self-winding chronograph and the date shows at the 3 o'clock position. You may have heard of Breitling recently for another reason. Check out the video below for BMW's awesome new technology for this shape shifting, flexible-shell GINA Light model. This is really an extraordinary innovation from BMW, and I could see this revolutionizing the way cars are made and how people think about designing them. GINA stands for "geometry in adaptations." In the video, Chris Bangle discusses the background thinking that went into this technology and what their vision is for it. Bangle says they came to they realization that they wanted to "let materials talk in a different manner." This material really evokes an organic feel and emotion to the car. Bangle says the GINA philosophy is about "being flexible...thinking flexible..context over dogma." I really like this. What do you think about this GINA Light model? You've seen soap in a dispenser on a wall, a bar of soap in a dish, and liquid soap in a fancy container by a sink. All very functional and common ways to use soap. But what about soap on a hook on a wall? I found this vintage French soap hook in the Apartment Therapy Store. These soap hooks are made by Pro Ven Di and were originally designed for use in public restrooms in France. You screw the soap onto the chrome metal bracket and it spins as you use it. The Kyocera Perfect Peeler is a great example of a well-designed tool that you can find in a kitchen. It's well designed from a usability and a materials perspective. The Perfect Peeler has cutting blades that are made from advanced ceramic, which stays sharp longer than steel, won't rust, and won't leave a metallic taste in the food that you peel. You can also be pretty creative about how you cut. This tool cuts vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Kyocera purchased this design from Trident-Designs, which makes some pretty cool stuff. Check out the PowerSquid 5-outlet device if you don't believe me. This food peeler is best for peeling fruit like mangoes and kiwis. If you haven't seen Apple's newly designed iPod Nano yet, you need to do yourself a favor and check it out. My girlfriend gave me one this weekend and I'm really impressed with how it takes famous iPod features and slims them down into the smallest iPod with video and pictures. From a design standpoint, the nano has the staple reflective metal backing. It's super thin at 6.5mm--only a bit thicker than a book of matches. When you hold it in your hand, it has a nice feel to it. It's got some weight so it doesn't feel too light or cheaply made. Other features that the Nano takes from its bigger iPod relatives are the scroll wheel, buttons and menu. Also there's the Cover Flow feature, that lets you scroll through your music by album covers. The display is 320 x 240 and is supposedly 65% brighter than before. I really noticed the brightness when I found that a picture that looked a bit dark on my Macbook Pro actually looked clear and bright on the iPod nano. Wow, this new holographic technology absolutely blows me away. Musion Systems collaborated with Cisco's Globalization Centre East in India to create a real-time virtual conference using holographic display technology. John Chambers (Cisco CEO) was able to "beam up" two other guys and have a real, live discussion, just like they were face-to-face. There are so many possibilities for this! For example, the President could be many locations at once giving a speech, and not even have to physically be there or worry about security. Everyone could basically "see" him speak "in person." If I lived far away from my girlfriend we could use the technology to have a more personal conversation than on the phone. While it's still no substitution for being with each other in person, it would be much better than talking on the phone, which I hate doing. It's really annoying when you have a lot of things to plug in but only two power outlets. Powerstrips are helpful, but if you have a bulky charger, it can take up more than one outlet and leave you still wondering how you're going to plug everything in. That's where the PowerSquid comes into play.

Yesterday I picked up a Canon SD750 digital camera. It's a member of the digital elph family and so far I like it a lot. I've been a Canon fan for a long time. My very first digital camera was the Powershot a20, which had a 2.1 megapixel ccd and 3x optical zoom. And it looked and felt like a brick. It took great pictures though. After I got pushed into the pool during spring break with this camera in my pocket, I had to say bye-bye to my first a20. But my friend replaced it with a new (used) a20 he found on eBay. It worked alright for a few months before randomly shutting off every so often. Time to get a new camera. The next Canon digital camera I got was the SD450 digital elph. This thing may have been tiny but it took even better pcitures than my old a20. Sadly, this camera died when I was in Aspen--for some reason the lens wouldn't retract fully and it wouldn't take any pictures.
